FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to drive set such as sets for automobiles powered by internal combustion engines, cooling system with fan, transmission and hydrodynamic retarder with stator, rotor and housing. Rotor 2.1 of retarder 2 acting as retarder-brake is installed on engine shaft 1 or on end journal 1.2 of shaft 1 coaxial with engine shaft 1/ Retarder 2 is arranged between engine crankcase 1.3 and blades 3.1 of fan 3. According to invention, retarder can be placed in air stream of fan impeller removing from retarder housing the heat caused by braking. Mounting of retarder stator 2.2 between fan blades 3.1 and rotor 2.1 improved efficiency of cooling of retarder housing. EFFECT: improved operation reliability. 7 cl, 9 dwg
