FIELD: railway transport; permanent way; track maintenance. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of measuring rail track 9 by means of two measuring vehicles 1, 2 comes to the following: first mobile unit of measuring vehicle I is moved in direction towards second stationary unit of measuring vehicle 2. Check line 14 in form of laser beam is set between both units of measuring vehicles 1, 2. Prior to carrying out each measurement cycle, relative position of stationary unit of measuring vehicle 2 relative to stationary base station 29 of global satellite radio fixing system found near the section of rail track to be measured is determined in known earth coordinate system by means of receiver 19 of global satellite radio fixing system. Using obtained information on location of rail track, check line 14 is tuned to mobile unit of measuring vehicle I after which measurement of rail track is carried out. EFFECT: reduced time taken for measurement, improved accuracy of measurement. 5 dwg
