FIELD: mechanical engineering, simultaneous machining of axially aligned external revolution surfaces such as shafts, valves, sleeves, bearing rings etc. SUBSTANCE: method includes the use of spring-loaded basic and additional honing sticks for the interaction with the surfaces of larger and smaller (or equal) diameters. The honing sticks are pressed against the surfaces to be machined with the use of loadings placed from the both sides of the workpiece. The basic honing sticks are set in rotation in the direction of rotation of the workpiece. The additional honing sticks are set in rotation counter to the direction of rotation of the basic honing sticks. A formula is presented for determining the rotation speed of the additional honing sticks depending on cutting speed and rotation speed of the workpiece in the place of its contact with the basic honing sticks as well as the diameters of the surfaces to be machined.
