FIELD: applying protective coatings onto outer surface of tubes, preferably applying foamed heat insulation materials onto surface of separate tubes according to technique "pipe-in-pipe". SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of orienting and placing tube and rigid outer envelope; closing tube ends by means of plugs; introducing reaction mixture into formed cavity and setting it; placing tube on pendulum type supports; moving outer envelope along guides onto tube at successively stopping envelope by means of each pendulum type support; then mounting annular plugs in ends of envelope for introducing reaction mixture to cavity formed between tube and envelope. EFFECT: enhanced quality of protective coating of tubes. 2 dwg
