FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves replacing failed refrigerators positioned at the height of furnace shell with new cooling members, which are to be set through openings made in furnace shell; mounting form in site, where new cooling members are to be set; filling space defined between form and furnace shell with fireproof solution, which is initially supplied into space positioned below lower edge of furnace shell opening, through mentioned opening; welding-in new plate-type refrigerator and supplying fireproof solution into space above furnace shell opening through additional opening in shell, in site adjacent to space between new cooling member and above positioned refrigerator. Form and new cooling members are mounted simultaneously. EFFECT: simplified method providing reliable operation and increased efficiency of recovered furnace shaft cooling system. 3 dwg, 1 ex
