FIELD: measurement technology; continuous in-service measurements of engine power output. SUBSTANCE: method that provides for continuous measurement of engine power output in the course of its operation by varying fuel feed involves in-service measurement of engine output power and speed at full fuel feed, measurement of engine speed at partial fuel feed, and calculation of engine power output at partial fuel feed; to this end engine power measured at full fuel feed is multiplied by ratio of engine speed at partial fuel feed to that at full fuel feed. Device implementing proposed method has power measurement unit, random-access unit, extremum detector for full fuel feed condition, engine power indicator for full fuel feed condition, engine speed sensor, engine power calculating unit for partial fuel feed condition, and engine power indicator for partial fuel feed condition.
