FIELD: mechanical engineering; manufacture of automobile parts and furniture where reduced mass and good decorative properties are required. SUBSTANCE: foaming mixture (for example, polyurethane foam, polyethylene foam, etc. ) is poured into mold consisting of cavity and plunger with air vent. Cavity intended for filling-up is placed in horizontal or inclined position so that maximum thickness of part should be ion side of operator. Mixture is poured on this side along cavity surface. Then cavity is closed by plunger and mold is shifted to vertical position positioning the zone of maximum thickness at the bottom; it is kept in this position till mixture is hardened. Method is realized with the aid of mold provided with air vent located at the top when mold is in vertical position. Part of mold clearance may be used as air vent. According to another version, cavity is placed on working table with facing material placed on it and is hermetically secured over contour of cavity. Use is also made of cavity having perforated working surface and chamber on side of working table. End face of cavity is sealed - up. Interior of cavity is evacuated and foaming mixture is poured on surface of facing material; then, cavity is closed by plunger and mold is shifted to vertical position.
