FIELD: railway transport; noncontact checking facilities. SUBSTANCE: proposed device can be used in mobile test laboratories of railway transport, both in static state and in motion. In check device matrix eddy current converter is made in form of great number of inductance coils whose centers are combined on one point and lie on central axis of converter. Device increases accuracy of checking owing to quazisimulatanous local measurement of several points on rail head wear surface. Configuration of wear surface if approximated by these points and using the result, width, depth and angle of wear in any point on the surface are measured.
