FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method is realized by rotary-kiln processing of zinc-containing materials in mixture with carbon-reducing agent, calcium- containing flux and auxiliary substance-calcium chloride. In so doing, mixture of calcium- containing flux and auxiliary substance is supplied to furnace by its blowing with high-pressure air (2-6 atm) from furnace discharge end to zone of clinker formation in amount of 5 to 10% of calcium oxide and from 0.02 to 0.04% of chlorine in auxiliary substance with respect to clinker weight. EFFECT: increased furnace operating period due to higher stability of lining and reduced losses of indium with clinker by 40-60%. 1 tbl, 1 ex
