FIELD: pipeline construction in oil and gas industry, municipal engineering and other branches of industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves using pulse current source for emitting negative pole pulses toward object to be protected; connecting pulse current source common line to consumable electrode, which is under the action of the same medium as object to be protected. In case pulse current source emits positive pole pulses, the latter are delivered to consumable electrode, with pulse current source common line being connected to object to be protected; generating electric field pulses causing corrosive negative ions to move from object to be protected at the velocity exceeding by multiple times their backward diffusion rate in the absence of electric field. Method allows stress corrosion development due to tendency to absorb hydrogen to be inhibited to large extent and weight of consumable electrode to be reduced.
