SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to metal surface protection from corrosion and may be used in power supply and pipeline oil and gas transport lines. Method includes pulse current supply in closed series circuit consisting of current generator, protected structure, ballast resistance represented by ground or other current-conducting environment where protected structure is located, and grounding electrode located in ground of other current-conducting environment. Alternating current is used as pulse current having higher effective negative potential to be transferred to protected structure than effective positive potential to be transferred to the same structure in the next semi-period, with semi-period time of negative and positive pulses being equal.

EFFECT: elimination of cathode hydrogen absorption and anode passivation effects while protecting metal surfaces from corrosion.
