FIELD: plastic metal working, namely, manufacture of wire from waste material of contact wires. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating wire, separating it by two portions at notching wire neck and simultaneously tearing wire base from its head; cooling each separate part of wire in medium providing reduction of wire material from its oxide layer, drawing blanks for making wire product with target cross section. Notching is performed by depth consisting 1/2-1/80 of wire neck cross section. EFFECT: enhanced quality of wire at lowered copper losses. 2 cl, 3 dwg
