FIELD: electrical engineering, possibly welding systems, power source for realizing loads of different designation. SUBSTANCE: power source allows to perform welding operations with use of direct or alternating electric current in field condition. Power source includes main welding winding and low-voltage load winding that are not connected one with another. Driving winding of stator is shifted relative to main welding winding and relative to low-voltage load winding by 120 electrical degrees and it is connected in parallel with capacitor. Choke with tappings controlling value of welding electric current is connected in series with main welding winding. Windings of rotor are not connected one with another and each winding is connected in parallel with rectifying diode. Universal power source is suitable for supplying direct and alternating electric current circuits and for receiving sharply descending characteristics necessary for welding, it provides output voltage sufficiently stabilized at changing load.
