FIELD: organic chemistry, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention describes novel compounds as retinoids of the general formula (I) where X means oxo-group or group OR¹ in position 4 or 5; R¹ means hydrogen atom and R² means hydrogen atom or alkyl; bonds designated by dotted line are optional ones and 3,4-double bond can present only in the case when X is at position 5, and also pharmaceutically acceptable carboxylic acid salts of compounds of the formula (I). Invention describes also a pharmaceutical composition containing compounds indicated above. Retinoids and retinoid-based pharmaceutical composition can be used for treatment and prophylaxis of patients with skin diseases accompanying with epithelium alternations, for treatment of acne and psoriasis and malignant and precancer pathological alternations of epithelium also, tumor and pretumor alternations of mouth, tongue, larynx, esophagus, bladder, uterine cervix and colon membrane mucosa.
