COMPOSITION FOR ASBESTOS-FREE FRICTION MATERIAL Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

Abstract RU 2173691 C1

FIELD: machine building industry, more particularly manufacture of linings and brake blocks of disk and drum brakes. SUBSTANCE: composition comprises, wt.%: phenolformaldehyde resin, 5-10; butadiene- nitrile rubber, 2-6; ultrathin steel fiber, 20-50; carbon filler heat treated at temperature rise from room temperature to 200 C which is essentially product of impregnation of solid carbon-containing material with aqueous solution of mixture of transition and alkali or alkaline-earth metal at weight ratio thereof in amount of 5-20; brass chip or copper powder, 5-7; mixture of calcium carbonate and hydroxide, 1-5; alumina, 1-20; carbonized cellulose fiber, 1-10; vermiculite 0.5-5; barium sulfate, up to 100. Compositions make it possible to prepare friction materials which give off less amount of free phenol and have reduced levels of noise and wear, higher stability of friction coefficient at temperatures up to 500 C, lower wear of counterbody and reduced amount of spoilage. EFFECT: improved properties of the composition. 5 cl, 11 ex, 1 tbl
