FIELD: polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: composition is suitable for use when manufacturing vehicle brake means. Composition includes binding agent from the group of phenol-formaldehyde resins; fibrous filler; metal-containing compounds; organic, friction, and inorganic modifiers. Fibrous filler is mixture of glass thread and mineral wool. Metal-containing compounds are selected from the group including brass, bronze cuttings, micropowder, copper powder, lead powder, ferrophosphorus, iron-ore concentrate, or their mixture. Organic modifier is butadiene-nitrile rubber. Friction modifier is graphite-antimony trisulfide mixture. Inorganic modifier is selected from the group including barite concentrate, aluminum oxide, vermiculite, needle wollastonite, or their mixture. Additionally, composition contains curing agent: mixture of wollastonite sulfur and zinc white, and, as supplementary filler for phenol binder, needle wollastonite. Components are mixed in two steps: first, mixture of binding agent with needle wollastonite and mixture of fibrous filler, curing agent, organic and friction modifiers are prepared and then these mixtures are mixed with remaining components. EFFECT: achieved stabilization of friction coefficient and wearing characteristics simultaneously with efficiency of braking at high speeds and multiple braking. 2 cl, 3 tbl, 6 ex
