SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel substituted benz[a]acridines of the formula (II) where R1 and R2 mean independently OH, NO2,NH2, halogen atom, NHCO-(C1- C8)-alkyl or (C1- C8)-alkoxy-group; or R1 and R2 mean in common -OCH2O-; R3 means H; R5 and R6 means independently H, OH, NO2,NH2, halogen atom, NHCO-(C1- C8)-alkyl or (C1- C8)-alkoxy-group; or R5 and R6 in common mean -OCH2O and R7 means H or (C1- C8)-alkyl; or R1,R2,R3,R5,R6 mean independently H, OH, NO2,NH2, halogen atom, NHCO-(C1- C8)-alkyl or (C1- C8)-alkoxy-group; R2 and R3 in common mean -OCH2O-; R5 and R6 mean in common -OCH2O- and R7 means H or -alkyl under condition that one of R1 and R2 means (C1- C8)-alkoxy-group; or R1 and R2 in common mean -OCH2O-; or R1,R5,R6 mean independently H, OH, NO2,NH2, halogen atom, NHCO-(C1- C8)-alkyl or (C1- C8)-alkoxy-group; R2 and R3 in common means -OCH2O- and R- means H or (C1- C8)-alkyl, or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. Also, invention relates to the more specific compounds, pharmaceutical composition that is able to inhibit cancer cells proliferation and involving the above indicated compounds and therapeutic method of inhibition of cancer cells proliferation involving administration of these compounds.
