FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: in particular, manufacture of heat-insulating material is based on ash reject from heat-and-power stations and utilized at heat-and-power enterprises and also as construction material in shipbuilding and mechanical engineering. Material is prepared from mixture of binding agent, porous filler, and mineral component. Process includes preparing foam mass, molding, and heat treatment. Foam mass is prepared by consecutively mixing porous filler, binding agent (water-soluble silicon-containing mineral binder), water, and mineral component, namely mixture of alkali metal halide and alkali metal carbonate, in which mass 55-70 wt parts filler and 2-5 wt parts mineral component are taken per 100 wt parts of binder. Before mixing, porous filler, namely hollow silicon-containing microspheres (from abovementioned ash reject) fraction 10-300 mcm, is treated with acidic agent, namely mixture of carboxylic acid, more precisely oxalic acid, alkali salt thereof having decomposition temperature not below 180 C, observing acidic agent-to-mineral component weight ratio 1: 1, whereas summary content of acidic agent, mineral component, and hardener does not exceed 10.1 wt parts. Molding is carried out under stepwise heat treatment conditions including initial aging of molding mixture at 80-100 C for at least 1 min per each 1 mm of the thickness of sample being molded and final aging at 250-300 C. EFFECT: expanded technological possibilities due to enabled manufacture of product with controlled porosity, improved heat-insulating property and strength of material, and improved environmental condition. 3 cl, 2 tbl
