DEVICE FOR PIPE GRIPPING IN TUBING TRAVELLING SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: drilling of deep wells, particularly, power slips for pipe gripping in tubing travelling system. SUBSTANCE: device comprises body with power slips, body rigidity casing, hoisting platform, hoisting air cylinders and turning mechanism. The latter is made in the form of air cylinder hinged to one of links of travelling system connected with body and hinged to said rigidity casing and connected through turning cock with source of compressed air. Mounted on the other link is air receiver with portion air distributor connected through one hose with drilling rig air receiver. Air receiver is communicated with air distributor through nozzles. Air distributor includes cover and two step sleeves. One sleeve accommodates hollow piston, seat and upper spring-loaded valve. The other sleeve houses piston with upper end piece and the second upper spring-loaded valve. Middle hollows of sleeves are communicated with upper and lower hollows of hoisting air cylinders. The latter are symmetrically located with clearance in upper flange part of body on device vertical axis and are hinged to body rigidity casing. Device provides for performance of lowering and hoisting of power slips, their turning with remote control in use of one hose connecting device control system with compressed air source. EFFECT: simplified installation and operation of device, reduced transverse sizes, provision of pipe centering in pipe connection. 3 cl, 6 dwg
