FIELD: oil and gas industry. SUBSTANCE: proposal can find use in any plants having conduits for transportation of liquids or gases. Method is realized with the aid of instrument module built in pipe-line and incorporating several pairs of receiving-radiating elements mounted on walls of instrument module and forming measurement planes Module is fitted with system of its rotation around its longitudinal axis, with system controlling rotation and system recording and processing measurement data. Projection corresponding to one value of angle of turn of module is formed by collection of difference of times of propagation with one angular position of module. Then system of rotation turns module and another projection corresponding to another value of angle of turn of module is formed. Such turns are continued till complete package of needed projections is obtained. After it inverse Radon transform is computed or another known algorithm of X-ray reconstruction is employed. EFFECT: generation of sufficient body of starting information for X-ray reconstruction of unspecified two- dimensional distribution of velocities. 4 cl, 6 dwg
