FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: the method deals with dividing and identifying fetal cells in blood samples, especially, it refers to isolation and identification of fetal nucleus-bearing erythrocytes or erythroblasts out of maternal cells in blood sample of pregnant woman. Fetal nucleus-bearing erythrocytes or erythroblasts are identified by using either an antibody or antibody fragment specific for embryonic hemoglobin or embryonic hemoglobin chain. Thus, it becomes possible to detect nucleic acids or fetal proteins to conduct both quantitative and qualitative prenatal diagnostics including identification of fetal sex, chromosomal defects, those of a single gene or a protein and the presence of particular genes and sequences of nucleic acids. EFFECT: higher efficiency of the method. 22 cl
