FIELD: transport engineering; steering gears. SUBSTANCE: proposed steering mechanism has case accommodating toothed rack connected through ball-and-screw train with steering shaft and engaged with toothed sector installed in bearings of eccentric bushings. It has also axial displacement limiters of sectors and eccentric bushings. Cavity for threaded pin installed in steering mechanism case is made on outer surface of each bushing. This cavity is made in form of rectangular profile ring groove forming two sharp edges. Cone is made on end of threaded pin from side of ring groove. Diameter of cone base is greater than width and length is smaller than depth of ring groove. Axis of mounting of threaded pin in case is displacement relative to axis of symmetry of ring groove to side of axial displacement limiter of toothed sector and eccentric bushings. Hardness of threaded pin cone is greater than hardness of ring groove sharp edges. EFFECT: simplified design, provision of optimum backlash in rack- sector meshing. 2 cl,1 dwg
