UNSYMMETRICAL 4,6-BIS(ARYLOXY)PYRIMIDINE PRODUCTION PROCESS AND INTERMEDIATE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention provides improved preparation process for 4,6- bis(aryloxy)pyrimidine represented by general formula I: (I), which find use in agriculture as pesticides, and a novel intermediate of formula II (significations of radicals in formula I and II are indicated in the description on condition that at least one of R₂ and R₆ is not hydrogen atom and aryloxy groups are not identical). Compound of formula I is prepared by interaction of 4,6-dihalopyrimidine of formula III: (III), in which X is Cl, Br, or I, with one or less molar equivalent of first phenol having formula IV: (IV) and first base in presence of first solvent to give 4-halo-6- (aryloxy)pyrimidine of formula V: (V), which interacts with about 1 molar equivalent of C1-C4-trialkylamine in presence of second solvent to give compound of formula II, in which Q denotes group R₉R₁₀R₁₁N⁺. Ammonium halide interacts with at least 1 molar equivalent of second phenol having formula VI and second base in presence of third solvent.
