FIELD: sewing industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for binding attaching thread 12 used for fastening button 10 to piece of garment or other article enables winding of a number of coils of binding thread 56 around attaching thread 12. Apparatus has thread catching plate 44, which catches binding thread 56 adapted to be wound about button attaching thread 12 during rotation of drum 26 to which plate 44 is fixed. Twisting member 52 is designed for twisting binding thread 56 caught by plate 44 and for separating twisted binding thread 56 from plate 44 with following turning of plate 44 through predetermined angle. Loop-forming member 54 is adapted for catching binding thread 56 twisted by twisting member 52 upon turning of twisting member through predetermined angle. As a result full loop of binding thread 56 is formed. EFFECT: simplified construction and provision for reliable fastening of button to piece of article. 9 cl, 22 dwg
