FIELD: fiber-optical communication lines. SUBSTANCE: ends of fibers are prepared for splicing, butts of fibers are inserted into splicing element till butts contact one another. Splicing element is anchored on butts of fibers and axial force of compression of butts of fibers is maintained during thermofusion within bounds from 0 to 40 C. Axial force of compression is created by way of heating of splicing element before it is joined to fibers to temperature above 80 C and by subsequent cooling of splicing element. Coefficient of thermal expansion of splicing element is greater than coefficient of thermal expansion of optical fiber. EFFECT: decreased optical losses. 5 cl, 15 dwg
