FIELD: electromechanics; convertible electrical-to-mechanical and mechanical-to- electrical energy conversion. SUBSTANCE: relative displacement of bodies of which one or both possess electric field and ability to store electric charges as well as interaction between these electrically charged bodies is proposed provided one of them or both bodies have one or more degrees of freedom. Provision is made for controlling mechanical interaction force and motion speeds due to changes in magnitude of electric charge and dielectric constant of medium wherein this interaction occurs. Alternatives of features characterizing translational and rotary motion of electromechanical converter rotor are discussed including use of electret materials as electric field sources. Provision is also made for circulation of electric charges over phase plates of multiphase electrical machines thereby minimizing power requirement at minimal heating. EFFECT: reduced current consumption, improved power generation process. 10 cl, 6 dwg
