FIELD: mechanical engineering; processes and devices using electrohydraulic effect. SUBSTANCE: high-voltage discharges are set up in liquid within working chamber and hydraulic pressures are built up about discharge area which actuate working element accommodated in mentioned chamber; in the process, motion speed of working element (piston) and power of high-voltage discharges are adjusted; electrical discharge initiation moment is timed with working element position. Piston is set in balanced reciprocating motion by alternate electrohydraulic shocks through liquid either side of its effective sides. Energy released due to electrohydraulic shock of liquid within working chamber is directly converted into rotary motion of working element such as turbine due to alternate electrohydraulic shocks of liquid imparted to blades.
