FIELD: foundry, particularly, production of metal ingots in molds. SUBSTANCE: device for casting of metal ingots has a row of molds installed along endless conveyer, device for supply of molten metal into molds, casting cap covering at least one part of molds on conveyer upper path. Casting cap is connected for tight sliding with upper end side of molds tightly adjacent to one another in passing under casting cap. It provides for reduction to minimum of gas leakage between said molds. In this case, casting cap forms gastight guard above a part of molds. During metal casting, protective gas is supplied to inside of guard. Invention is more efficient in casting of magnesium due to considerable reduction of formation of oxides.
