FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of chemical reagents, fuel or absorbents. Device for continuous thermal decomposition of organic material comprises organic material supply mechanism 2 into reaction vessel 1, pressure applicator 6 for reaction layer compacting, autogenous reaction zone 24 of organic material in reaction layer, gas outlet 7, cooling zone 25 and channel for discharge of carbonised organic material 17 from reaction vessel 1. Continuous thermal decomposition of organic material in reaction vessel 1 comprises steps of: heating dry organic material, its loading into reaction vessel 1; dry organic material heating to temperature of its softening; application of pressure in range from 0 to 10 bar; displacement of compressed organic material into zone of reaction layer; raising temperature of compressed organic material to temperature, at which its autogenic decomposition occurs; retention of compressed organic material in reaction zone and unloading of carbonised organic material from reaction vessel 1. Using above method continuous production of pressed charcoal is carried out.
EFFECT: invention enables to carry out process without using external heating by autogenous reaction and performing sufficiently uniform distribution of temperature in any cross section in reaction vessel.
