FIELD: methods for sawing of logs. SUBSTANCE: the log is sawn into parts at least by two approximately diametrically opposite saw cuts, the most external of them are located essentially symmetrically relative to the lug pith. Each board obtained in such a way is chamfered on the outer side, the chamfer serves as a standard of the direction of leveling. Two boards are obtained by a saw cut positioned near the pith, and essentially parallel to each external chamfered edge. A leveling saw cut is made on the most external part of the log, that is essentially parallel approximately diametrically to the opposite saw cuts, preferably at the same operation in which the log is sawn approximately by diametrically opposite saw cuts. Each block with leveling saw cuts is directed through at least a single double-circular saw, whose saw cuts are inclined relative to the main surface of the block, for example, through 30 deg. and pass essentially radially and symmetrically relative to the position of the pith. This operation is carried out twice with different inclinations of the double-circular saw. EFFECT: enhanced quality of lumber at a low labor content. 9 cl, 6 dwg
