FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a field of production of activated carbons. Invention proposes a method of production of activated carbon including the combined grinding carbon- containing raw and pitch with a melting point 70-110 C as a solid binding agent and taken in the amount 8-20 wt.% followed by forming the obtained composition to make tablets, briquets or granules under specific pressure = 900-1500 kg/cm2, carbonization in the range of temperatures from the room one to 550-650 C at the rate 20-25 C/min, crushing to particle size 0.3-2.0 mm and activation by steam. Method ensures to prepare super-strength activated carbons providing the high degree of treatment of drinking water from acetone as poorly sorbing component. Invention can be used in different carbon-adsorption processes: purification of liqueur and vodka production, drinking water, pharmaceutical and food industry and for recuperation of volatile solvents.
