FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: activated carbon is produced using a mixture of coal-based carbon and a water-bitumen emulsion with 50-70% binder content. Granulation is carried out through a draw plate with hole diameter of 1.0-5.0 mm at pressure of 70-250 kg/cm2. Heat treatment is carried out in the temperature range of 250-350°C in the presence of air. Carbonisation is carried out, followed by activation in a steam medium.
EFFECT: obtaining granular activated carbon with improved sorption and strength properties, which can be used in treatment of gases, vapour and liquids.
