FIELD: special electrometallurgy, namely, welding on cylindrical bodies of revolution. SUBSTANCE: crystallizer is provided with ceramic member secured to inner surface of mean section and individually cooled by means of round cross-section cooling ducts. Thickness of ceramic member consists 1/4-1/6 of maximum thickness of welded-on layer. Cooling ducts have different diameters along height and they are equally spaced one from another or they have the same diameter and variable distance between them. Diameter of ducts and distance between ducts are changed according to linear law from lower portion of mean section to upper portion. Ducts are arranged along vertical symmetry axis of ceramic member. Such crystallizer provides uniform properties, enhanced surface quality, high dimension accuracy along length and generatrix of welded layer, lowered consumption of metallic members of mean section and its increased operationability. Crystallizer also provides elimination of electric arc breakage on wall of mean section and damage of working surface of said wall, possibility for controlling heat separation mode along height of surface of mean section.
