FIELD: mining industry, underground mining of coal. SUBSTANCE: process controlling roof includes installation of toroidal roof in long face, installation of several rows of pneumatic roofs with removable bottles arranged in staggered order between development workings in worked out space. Pressure in bottles is kept in accordance with exponent. Toroidal roof installed in long face includes frame with slit-like holes, first row of toroidal mobile roof with controlled pressure in tori and second row of toroidal mobile roof without control over pressure in tori, rows of bottles with reinforced side surfaces which change shape under outside pressure from flexible cylinder to flexible lens and which advance when folded through slit-like holes in frame under tori of first and then second rows of toroidal mobile roof in worked out space. As soon as folded bottles come from under second row of toroidal mobile roof they are inflated with compressed air after pulling out cotter pin of vessel with compressed air with use of tie-rod of face support. As result this process makes it feasible to diminish rate of displacement of roof to minimum while coal is extracted from strata of medium thickness.
