RAILWAY TANK LOCKING DEVICE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; railway tanks. SUBSTANCE: proposed railway tank locking device has main lock located in lower part of tank in zone of drain branch pipe 1 being coupled with turnable rod with control handle in zone of tank filler neck 2, and additional lock 4 with controls found on end of drain branch pipe. Main lock made in form of ball cock 3 has outer and inner bodies with inlet holes interconnected in zone of outlet port. Longitudinal axes of holes are square to longitudinal axis of drain branch pipe and are parallel to longitudinal axis of tank. Bushing with sealing seats engaging with ball stopper of cock are hermetically fitted in inlet holes of inner body. One of bushings is axially movable and is spring-loaded from side opposite to sealing seat. Ring space of drain branch pipe communicates with steam supply branch pipe and with steam conducting branch pipes enclosing the bushings.
