FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: process involves dimerization of C5 fraction at heating followed by fractionation and isolation of light hydrocarbons and dicyclopentadiene concentrate. The latter is subjected to splitting into monomers at 180-210 C in presence of high-boiling solvent and polymerization inhibitor. Resulting cyclopentadiene is then dimerized at 50-60 C into 99.5-100% pure dicyclopentadiene, conversion 90-99%.
