FIELD: construction industry, selection of soil-consolidating mechanism while erecting qualitative embankments, laying foundations and so on, control over quality of compaction of cohesive soil. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with proposed procedure there are determined granulometric composition of soil, content and density of particles of fraction under 2.0 mm, density of specimen with water content at fluidity boundary, value of specific compacting pressure under tool of mechanism and minimal size of its trace. Technological characteristics of soil are found by calculation. Technical result of proposed procedure consists in increased productivity and accuracy, in reduced labor input and time for determination of such technological characteristics of soil as optimum water content, maximum density, effective thickness of compacted layer of soil and required number of runs or strokes of mechanism over one trace with allowance for its technical characteristics.
