FIELD: production of protective metallized polymeric coatings. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing article in mold; locating interlayer of activated mixture of fluoroplastic containing 10-15 wt.% of 0.5-0.7 mm thick metal powder; sequentially spilling 50-60 mm height layer containing mixture of fluoroplastic and metal powder and 1-1.5 mm height layer comprising activated mixture of fluoroplastic and 20-25 wt.% of metal powder; providing static pressing while alternating process operations until complete filling of cavity defined between surfaces of cylindrical article and mold. Fluoroplastic and metal powder mixture is activated by providing explosive loading by means of flat knock wave with pressure of 6-8 Gpa. Method may be used for obtaining protective and antifriction coatings of uniform density on extended cylindrical metal products. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of coatings by increased adhesion strength between metallized fluoroplastic layers with metal and between said layers. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
