FIELD: forest industry; timber rafting over shallow rivers. SUBSTANCE: flat float unit includes rows of round timber of tier-by-tier perpendicular arrangement and frames for timber rows which are made from timber pieces having holes for connecting timber by means of flexible couplings; lower frame is provided with lower binders; flat float unit is also provided with vertical ties. All timber rows are provided with said frames which are made from timber of various length: timber of larger length is laid in longitudinal rows relative to river stream, lower row inclusive; timber of lesser length is laid in transversal rows; number of vertical ties is equal to two; ties are secured on ends of timber frames having larger length in corners located obliquely. Rigid coupling located obliquely on surface of upper row is made in form of timber whose ends are connected with vertical ties. EFFECT: improved transportation characteristics of float unit. 4 dwg
