FIELD: resin industry. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at preparing sodium salts of sulfoethyl ethers of ligno-carbohydrate materials, which can be used as chemical additives for controlling drilling fluids in oil and gas boreholes, for stabilizing cement mortars in construction, and as flotation reagents. Method is characterized by performing sulfoethylation of preliminarily activated cellulose-based ligno-carbohydrate material containing also lignin and hemicellulose. Activation is performed by 28% sodium hydroxide solution at 80- 82 C for 2 h. Sulfoethylation is accomplished by equimolecular 1,2- dichloroethane/sodium sulfite mixture and reaction is conducted for 4 h in refluxing isopropyl alcohol. EFFECT: enabled use of ligno-carbohydrate material without separation thereof into components so reducing cost and improving environmental condition. 5 tbl, 2 ex
