FIELD: metallurgy, continuous casting of metal. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with working of outer surfaces of one or several rolls forming single or several mobile walls of crystallizers used in plants of continuous casting of thin metal strips. Plant includes bath with electrolyte carrying in its composition salt of metal subject to deposition on surface of roll, means for partial submersion of surface of roll into bath and for creation of relative motion between surface of roll and electrolyte, at least one anode located in bath opposite to surface of roll, means for connection of surface of roll to cathode electric potential, screens of insulation material placed between edge of surface of roll and one or several anodes to prevent concentration of lines of current on mentioned edges of surface of roll. Screens have shape of segment of circle which center is aligned with center of circumference of edge of surface of roll opposite to which screen is located. It includes two edges parallel one another, each being placed in continuation of edge of surface of roll at equal distances from it. Edges of screen are intercoupled by depression in the form of angle which faces are perpendicular one another. EFFECT: improved stability of metal coat on shell of roll with reference to thermal and mechanical outside action, prolonged average service life of roll. 8 cl, 2 dwg
