FIELD: detection of radioactive gases, radiation protection. SUBSTANCE: procedure for remote detection of sources of alpha particles in environment employs gas which contains nitrogen and fills up environment in order to transform alpha particles emitted by sources to ultraviolet radiation. Image of ultraviolet radiation is formed on photosensitive surface. Device for implementation of procedure has surface sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, medium of gaseous scintillator that includes nitrogen and optical aid mounted for formation of image of ultraviolet radiation of environment on sensitive surface.
