FIELD: mining industry; stoping of coal deposits with use of complexes with powered hydraulic supports. SUBSTANCE: method includes correction of possible deflection of support unit by support and repulsion from roofing of neighboring support unit located on side of actual deflection. Support unit with unstable position is pulled up to roofing of neighboring support unit located on side opposite to actual deflection. Device for provision of side stability of support unit includes roofing of support unit, extensible side member with vertical and horizontal sheets and side jacks. Body of support unit roofing has bracket located for engagement with back surface of vertical sheet of neighboring support unit side member with retraction of side jack of neighboring support unit. Mechanism for covering spans between support units includes units with roofings and guards with extensible side members having vertical side member sheet, horizontal sheet covering span and guides. Mechanism has flexible fasteners secured to roofing bodies or guards and located for flexible engagement with back surfaces of vertical sheets of extensible side members of neighboring support units.
