FIELD: machine engineering, namely, finish grinding of precise articles such as bodies of revolution. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of rotating grinding disc at constant angular velocity; realizing forced rotation of blank in opposite side at constant angular velocity during periods of rough and finish in-feed of grinding disc and at variable increased angular velocity during second stage of dwelling; interrupting forced rotation of blank or providing its rotation due to engagement with cylindrical surface of grinding disc. Novelties are measuring time period of grinding; using brake for transmitting torque to blank on mandrel from face chuck at rough and finish in-feed; braking accelerated blank by friction with grinding disc at termination of dwelling period and determining braking time period according to given mathematical expression. Method allows to automatically control and normalize process of circular grinding when blank rotates with revolution number increased by 10 times and more. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of grinding process due to shortened time period of machine tool operation. 2 dwg
