FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of olefin oxides, in part, propylene oxide by direct oxidation of olefins, in part, propylene with oxygen in the presence of hydrogen and optionally diluting agent and in the presence of catalyst containing gold, at least one promoting metal taken among the group consisting of metals of Group 1, Group 2, rare-earth lanthanides metals and actinide metals of periodic system of elements and a titanium-containing carrier. Contact is carried out at temperature above 20 C but below 250 C. Invention relates to also a catalytic composition for this process and to a method of its regeneration. Suitable carriers involve titanium dioxide, titanosilicates, titanates of metal-promoters, titanium dispersed on silicon dioxide and silicates of metal-promoters. EFFECT: high selectivity for olefin oxide, enhanced economical conversion of olefin. 78 cl, 21 tbl
