Said compression retarder has intake and outlet valves with drive, pneumatic cylinder to cut off fuel delivery into cylinders, electronic distributor, and unit to control sequence of valve opening for alternating engine working strokes. Outlet valve is controlled by electromagnet with possibility of delivery of air into automobile pneumatic system. Electronic distributor electrically connected with unit to control sequence of valve opening according to engine working strokes is installed on shaft in engine housing. EFFECT: improved efficiency, reliability of retarder when operating in mountains and increased its service life. 1 dwg
