FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; exhaust systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed spark quencher-muffler has housing, intake and outlet branch pipes connected with housing, and face inlet and outlet walls, swirler installed in inlet part of housing and mated with central cone, round settling chamber formed by envelope placed around housing and connected with housing space through ting clearance between outlet edge of housing wall and end face outlet wall, and bypass holes located in housing wall. Round settling chamber is made in form of acoustic resonator whose neck is formed by surface of end face outlet wall and surface of disk installed in ring clearance on outlet edge of housing wall, and bypass holes are located behind swirler in direction of axial flow of exhaust gases and are made in form of bypass channels orientated in housing tangentially relative to its wall and directed by their outlet sections to housing space in direction of round motion of gas flow. Disk of neck of acoustic resonator can be made and installed on outlet edge of housing wall in form of cutting off deflector forming cutting off channel between outlet edge of housing wall and surface of neck. Cutting off deflector can be in form of circular groove. EFFECT: improved efficiency of spark quenching and noise damping. 3 cl, 4 dwg
