FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely, rolling steel hot rolled strips in continuous multistand mills. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of passing steel strip through rolling stands; setting linear effort in last stand; controlling thermal profile of rolls by their sectional (zonal) cooling. At rolling process value of linear effort in last stand is set according to empiric formula: , where Pl=P/B is linear effort of rolling in last stand, ts/mm; P is rolling effort, ts; B is width of strip, mm; Kh is empiric coefficient characterizing influence of strip width upon desired linear effort in last stand equal to 1.3-1.5 ts/mm; v is rolling rate, m/s; 0.5 mm/t s; 0.69; 1.45 m/s is empiric coefficients; 0.4 ts/mm is empiric value; Pm is mean value of linear efforts in stands before last one, ts/mm. Mean linear effort of rolling is determined according to given formula: , where Pi is linear efforts in stands before last one, ts/mm); n is number of stands of rolling mill.
