FIELD: nondestructive magnetic-tape inspection of tubes and articles of tubular shape, specifically, cast iron billets of cylinder liners for automobiles. SUBSTANCE: tube is magnetized, relief of leakage magnetic field is scanned by rotation of tested tube around magnetosensitive line converter located inside sealed rotating drum on which outer surface magnetized tube is placed and revolved. Magnetic field is converted to electric signal, information is processed and flaws are visualized. EFFECT: increased quality of test, prevented excessive wear of converter and its protection against external effects. 6 cl, 4 dwg
