FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves freezing solution in sublimation drying chamber into solid body; sublimating solid body into vapor and condensing vapor in cold condenser. Sublimation dryer has chamber 10 adapted for sublimation drying of solution and equipped with 16-24 material freezing plates. Hot condensation chamber 14 is used as coolable vapor condensing catch for condensing vapor uncondensed in sublimation chamber 10. Sublimated vapor is condensed in cold condensation chamber 12 arranged above sublimation drying chamber 10 and connected to it through pipeline 70. To prevent solid bodies from getting into cold condensation chamber 12, pressure is created in chamber 12 and equalized by means of gas in cold condensation chamber 12 and drying chamber 10. Cold condensation chamber 12 and drying chamber 10 are vacuumized by means of boost pump 78 and vacuum pump. At the end of sublimation process, nitrogen is supplied via valve 68 into condensation chamber 12 for increasing pressure to atmospheric pressure value. Particles settled onto vertical plates are removed and directed to collector 92. Method and apparatus allow large amounts of material to be dried. EFFECT: increased efficiency by isolating sublimation drying process from environment and provision for mass drying of substances in solutions by sublimation. 19 cl, 2 dwg
